Random Blog Post 1

Since the fall semester started I have made it my goal to become a better cook. Looking back, I'm very proud of all the different dishes I have cooked. I've made, omelettes, steak, chicken noodle soup, beef stew and French toast to name a few dishes. Before I started really trying to learn to cook I had found it to feel like a chore. Though I do find it draining at times (specially after long days), I have started to see cooking as a form of art.

Cooking has become more than just dicing garlic and sizzling veggies on a pan, I have found cooking to be quite therapeutic. I find cooking to be source of self expression in my life. One where I can let out excess stress or pent-up negative energy since, after cooking a meal, I get to eat it. Recently, I've been very proud of my cooking, finally being able to sit down and say that I cooked something that was actually edible.

I really enjoy being able to share my cooking with my friends and roommates. I find myself expressing my love and appreciation for those around me through my cooking. Having people I care about sit at a table and enjoy the food that I've made makes me feel fulfilled. Having a space filled with laughter and good company made possible by my cooking really puts a smile on my face. For the near future I want to continue getting better at cooking, by continuing to learn fundamentals and methods on how to cook different dishes.

  1. Hey Rodrigo!
I loved reading this blog, it made me hungry just reading it. I share similar feelings towards cooking but that's great to hear you are picking it up so easily. It is super fun to share a home cooked meal with friends and there's no better accomplishment than making something that tastes really good! If you're looking for suggestions, I have a pretty easy spaghetti recipe that never fails and everyone is always impressed. Haha

  2. Hi Rodrigo,
I am glad you're enjoying the process of cooking and wanting to cook for others. It is a very selfless act and it brings joy to know people genuinely find the food tasty and want seconds. Whenever I cook, my boyfriend has to wash the dishes, and when he cooks...he still washes the dishes lol.

  3. Hi Rodrigo,
I’m happy for you that you’ve find joy in cooking. That’s really awesome! I’ve never actually taken cooking seriously before because I’m lazy to meal-prep (I only know how to cook the easiest stuff like scramble eggs). After reading your blog, I think I’d like to try cooking sometime.

  4. Hey Rodrigo, I love your random blog post topic. I am excited for you on your cooking journey. I completely get cooking feeling like a chore. It is so easy to reach for pre-made or frozen items, but it seems like you are really starting to see the appeal of a home cooked meal. I think it is really nice that this is one of your current life goals.
