8. A day in the life

A typical day in college can be pretty hectic for me. I like to be productive in the morning and choose to wind down in the evenings (though there are times when I cannot wind down in the evenings). I normally wake myself up around 7am due to the outside light that comes into my room. The first thing I do when I get out of bed is drink a double espresso shot. It has become a sort of ritual for me, kind of telling my body it's time to grind. I will normally have a protein smoothie with an assortment of fruits, creatine, collagen, honey, peanut butter, and turmeric. If I am not in a rush, I will eat yogurt with granola or cook some egg-based recipe.

After breakfast I will go get ready in my room. By the time I'm done getting ready, it is time to start heading to class, so I queue some songs into my AirPods, grab my longboard, and head out the door. This might be my favorite part of my day. I love to longboard at USC; the campus is a longboarder's dream. Longboarding also helps me fully wake up and get ready for the day ahead of me. In classes I take notes and try and be present as much as possible.

After my first class I will do either one of two things. Go home and eat, or study on campus. If I feel the need to grind or have a pressing deadline, I will choose the latter to be as productive as possible. If I am feeling relaxed, I will go home, make a sandwich, and maybe try and get some work done on my desktop (although sometimes I will procrastinate here). I will then head to my 2pm class, which on Tuesdays and Thursdays is Microeconomics (probably my most stressful class this semester). After class I will either see friends or go to the library to study and get homework for my day's classes done while the information is still fresh in my mind.

I normally get home around 5-6pm, where I will go to my room and do homework, or I'll catch up with relatives/friends. Some days I may have club meetings or networking events around 7-8 pm. If it is a networking event, I will change into a suit and head out again.

I get home around 9pm, where I feel extremely exhausted. By this time my roommates are done using the kitchen and I get to enjoy peace and quiet while I cook or prepare myself a dreaded 'college struggle meal.' Overall I end my days feeling accomplished and motivated, excited to see what is in store for me the next day.

  1. Hey Rodrigo,
Your morning ritual of a double espresso shot had me laughing. These sound like very full and long days but certainly productive. That's cool you enjoy longboarding around campus! If you have a free weekend, you should go check out the Pump track! You might need a short/mid length board but it is so much fun. Here's the address: 700 Warren Ln, Inglewood, CA 90302. It can sometimes get crowded on the weekends but its still fun to watch everyone.
